ABSTRACT

The aim is to analyse the business results of the Lyft platform during the Covid 19 pandemic. Research and analysis of business results are the basis for comparison with the business results of other corporations in the sharing economy model. Selected financial indicators were used in the analysis, which were put in relation with selected ride-hailing indicators. The research was done using the financial analysis of parameters from the corporation's profit and loss account, that is, statistical regression of the ride-hailing trend in the selected time period. The research results indicate a strong impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on the overall activities of the corporation. In the first quarter of 2020, during the lockdown in the USA, the corporation's revenues and the number of rides dropped sharply. The corporation's revenues continuously grew until the emergence of the Covid 19 pandemic, and fell sharply with the advent of the lockdown model. The same trend was shown with the number of ride-hailing activities. After emerging from the crisis, revenues are recovering as well as the number of ride-hailing.

ABSTRACT

The findings serve as the basis for decision-making in the process of digital transformation of the analysed corporation, and the model can also be used by other players in the media industry (or any other industry) in the process of their digital transformation. In the context of the current COVID-19 pandemics, in spite of its devastating impact on the global economy and businesses across the world, it may have been "the impetus for the significant development of digital technology" (Khodova, 2021). Continued decline in daily newspaper circulation in the U.S. began as early as 1985 (Pew Research Center), and the development of digital publications has only accelerated that process. Section 2 reviews the related literature;Section 3 introduces the methodology, the research questions and the data;Section 4 presents the results and provides a data analysis, whereas Section 5 opens up a discussion of the results and concluding remarks together with guidance for future research. 1.RELATED LITERATURE Recent research has focused on analysing the language form and structure of texts published in the New York Times.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this paper is to compare the business results of corporations within the media industry. The analysis included two corporations from the "old" and two corporations from the "new " media industry. The corporations in the "old" media industry are Comcast Corporation and the New York Times, and the corporations in the "new " media industry are Netflix and Spotify. We determine the "old" media industry according to the organizational design of vertical integration. The "new " media industry uses a streaming platform model. Financial analysis includes selected items from the corporate income statement to compare the business results of corporations. By analysing the trend in the number of users, a new model of user behaviour was determined. The "old" media industry is undergoing a process of transformation and generating revenues from several different models of commodification. The "new" media industry is taking advantage of the technological advantage of this new user habit. The analysis and comparison of the results of these two models indicates the directions of development of the global media industry.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this paper is to analyse the business results of the eBay platform at the time of the global Covid 19 pandemic. The economic crisis, globally, has hit all industrial sectors. At the same time, lockdown has contributed to greater online shopping and online platforms. The eBay platform is the largest global auction platform and the oldest of the existing online platforms. The analysis of the business result of the platform, as well as the trend of the number of customers, will determine the impact of the pandemic on the business result of the platform as well as the relationship between sales revenue on the platform and the trend of the number of users. The research covers the financial results for the last few years as well as the trend of the number of users before and during the pandemic. The results of the research will be the basis for comparison with the results of the business results survey of other online platforms in order to more easily draw conclusions about the impact of the pandemic on online businesses.
